Richard Spear — originally from Lincoln, Kansas and a graduate of Kansas State University — built one of the River Valley's most trusted auction companies from the ground up, starting in 1984 in Russellville, Arkansas. What he built over four decades is defined by one principle: we come to you. Every auction is conducted at the seller's location. Nothing is moved, nothing is staged, nothing leaves before auction day.

Now Julie (Spear) Meimerstorf is carrying on that legacy. Richard's daughter and co-owner, Julie has expanded the company's reach with national digital marketing through HiBid, social media presence, and email-driven auction campaigns that put River Valley listings in front of buyers across the country — while preserving the hands-on, at-your-location approach her father built.

Richard remains at the heart of Spear's live auction and real estate operation — forty years of River Valley market knowledge that no platform can replace. Together, they run one of the most active auction operations in the region.

Hayden Spear — a licensed auctioneer and Realtor — supports the team and continues the family tradition that Richard started in 1984.

A Lincoln, Kansas native, Richard L. Spear earned his BA in Business Administration from Kansas State University in 1965, followed by an MBA from Mississippi College. He brought that academic foundation home to the Arkansas River Valley and founded Spear Auctioneers, Inc. in 1984 in Russellville — and has been conducting live, on-site auctions across Pope County ever since.

Richard specializes in live real estate auctions — selling farms, residential property, commercial real estate, and raw land through the competitive bid process at the site. His deep knowledge of River Valley land values, agricultural markets, and local buyer networks means his sellers consistently achieve strong results. Every auction he runs is conducted on the property — buyers come to the land, not the other way around.

Richard's credentials reflect over four decades of industry leadership. He earned the GRI (Graduate, Realtor Institute) designation from the Arkansas Realtors Association in 1987, completed the prestigious Certified Auctioneer Institute at Indiana University the same year, and was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1987. He has been honored as River Valley Best of the Best Auctioneer six times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008) and was named Russellville Citizen of the Year in 2011.

Richard's leadership in the auction industry includes serving as President of the Arkansas Auctioneers Association (1990–1991), Vice President (1989–1990), and as a Board Member for nearly a decade (1986–1989, 1991–1994). He was also crowned the association's Bid Calling Champion in 1986.

Julie spent 15 years as owner of The Dandy Lion before transitioning to real estate and taking co-ownership of Spear Auctioneers — bringing a sharp eye for marketing, merchandising, and social media that most auctioneers simply don't have. As the daughter of Richard Spear, she grew up in the auction business and carries 25 years of practical auction experience alongside her formal credentials.

Julie manages all of Spear's online personal property auctions through HiBid, marketing estate contents, antiques, collectibles, coins, firearms, farm tools, and household goods to thousands of registered bidders nationwide. She photographs, catalogs, and runs the entire auction at the seller's location — nothing moves before auction day.

Her background in retail business ownership, social media marketing, and merchandising gives Spear a digital presence and auction marketing capability that sets the company apart in the River Valley. Julie is also a licensed Realtor with Moore & Co. through the Meimerstorf Group, alongside her husband Todd Meimerstorf.
